As a responsible and environmentally conscious property development company, Visual spends a significant component of its resources ensuring that its developments have as little adverse impact on the environment as possible.
During the course of 2007 the principals of Visual wrote an environmental policy for the Group, both for its own development as well as for its building works. This led to the company having had a carbon footprint study done for its Stellendale 2 residential project – this study was one of the first of its kind to have been done for a residential project of this nature in South Africa. The outcomes of this study now enable the principals of the Visual Group to make strategic decisions about the nature of Stellendale 2, and in so doing to be at the cutting edge of the new ‘green’ approach towards property development.
In addition, the Visual Group has formed a new venture to take a vital component of this new way of thinking forward even further – namely that of electricity generation. This new company, Visual Energy, is a power generation business and is currently operating in South Africa and in other parts of Africa. The focus is to partner with and assist clients to generate their own electricity; and for such electricity to be generated in as renewable and efficient a manner as possible, financially and otherwise.
